Canterbury Country Houses is a collection of self-catering holiday houses managed by the owners who also run a nearby fruit farm.

All three houses are graded 5 stars by The English Tourist Board, and contain all the facilities you will need for a perfect holiday in Kent – the Garden of England.

You can buy Woolton  Sparkling Rosé.

Two of the houses are grade 2 listed historic buildings.  They sit on the edge of the Little Stour River in the village of Littlebourne, which is just three miles from the cathedral city of Canterbury.

The Old Tannery is the oldest building and (as the name implies) it was used to tan leather goods up to the end of the 18th Century. It has been completely renovated and extended to provide a beautiful holiday home for our guests.

The Oast is a special building which was specifically designed for the drying of hops. The building has three kilns with the typical Kentish white cowls on top that vented the heat out of the kilns.  Again the building has been completely renovated and is our largest holiday house sleeping 8.

The third house, called Ellens Cottage, has a large private garden and is located at Woolton Farm. Only three miles from Canterbury the farm is right next to Howletts Zoo and so a great spot to go and visit their famous Gorillas!

East Kent has so many interesting things to do and places to visit. We provide all the information for our guests about where to go and what to see. And of course the owners are more than happy to make suggestions.

To wet your appetite here is a brief overview of some of the attractons:

There are sandy beaches at Sandwich, Margate & Broadstairs, castles at Dover and Walmer, and of course the beautiful Cathedral at Canterbury.

The coastal towns provide endless fascination: the oysters at Whitstable, the cinque port of Sandwich with its Roman remains and famous Royal St George’s Golf Course, the ships and maritime history at Chatham. Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate are thriving seaside resorts with very different characters to suit all tastes.

The area is rich in excellent gardens, and for eating and drinking we make sure that each house has all the details and recommendations.

There are lots of easy walks and we can recommend the best pubs
